Discover Yesh Hummus & Grill

Walking into Yesh Hummus & Grill feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that knows exactly what it’s doing and doesn’t try to overcomplicate it. Located at 607 Reisterstown Rd, Pikesville, MD 21208, United States, this diner-style Mediterranean restaurant has built a steady following among locals who care about flavor, consistency, and food that actually makes you feel good after you eat it. I’ve stopped by more times than I can count, usually after errands in Pikesville, and the experience has been reliably satisfying every single time.

The menu leans heavily into Middle Eastern comfort food, with hummus as the anchor. The hummus here isn’t just a side; it’s treated like the main event. It comes out warm, creamy, and balanced, with olive oil that tastes fresh rather than bitter. According to food science research published by Harvard Health, chickpeas are rich in plant protein and fiber, which explains why a hummus-based meal keeps you full without feeling heavy. That science lines up perfectly with real life here. A hummus platter with shawarma or falafel easily carries you through the rest of the day.

One thing I’ve noticed from personal experience is how efficient the kitchen runs, even during peak hours. Orders move fast, but nothing feels rushed. You can see the process in action: fresh pita warmed to order, meats shaved directly from the spit, salads assembled with crisp vegetables rather than pre-cut fillers. This kind of workflow is often cited by the National Restaurant Association as a best practice for maintaining quality while handling volume, and it shows in the final plate.

The grill section of the menu deserves just as much attention. Chicken shawarma is seasoned deeply, with that slow-roasted tenderness that only comes from proper marination and steady heat. Lamb options have a clean, savory flavor without the gaminess that turns some people off. For vegetarians, the falafel is fried to order, crunchy on the outside and herbaceous inside, not dry or crumbly. I once brought a friend who usually avoids falafel, and even they admitted it was surprisingly light and flavorful.

Reviews from regulars often mention portion size, and they’re not exaggerating. Plates are generous without feeling wasteful, which builds trust with customers over time. That trust matters. A 2023 consumer dining survey by Toast showed that consistency and value rank higher than novelty for repeat restaurant visits, and this place clearly understands that balance. You’re not here for gimmicks; you’re here for food that delivers exactly what it promises.

The atmosphere matches the food. It’s casual, clean, and welcoming, more diner than fine dining, which makes it easy to stop in solo or with family. Staff interactions are straightforward and friendly, the kind where they remember your usual order if you come often enough. That familiarity adds to the sense of reliability, something that can’t be faked.

While the location in Pikesville is easy to miss if you’re just driving by, it has become a destination for many nearby neighborhoods. People drive in specifically for the hummus bowls, wraps, and grill plates because they know what they’re getting. One limitation worth noting is seating during busy hours; space can feel tight, so takeout is often the smarter choice if you’re short on time. Luckily, the food travels well, which isn’t always true for Mediterranean fare.

Everything about the experience points to thoughtful execution rather than trend chasing. From the ingredient quality to the steady reviews and repeat customers, it’s clear this restaurant has earned its reputation the long way. When a place delivers honest food, clear flavors, and dependable service, it doesn’t need hype to stay relevant.

  • Totally worth the 20 minute drive from my house. Wanna come back and try the falafel, but the shawarma was so good that I’d be sad not to get it again. Not a bad predicament to be in!

  • Oh my goodness! So GOOD! I am definitely going to go back again soon! They were so very gracious and welcoming, the food was amazingly good, priced very fairly, and the portions were perfect! Very highly recommend their shakshuka and shwarma - I had to look twice to make sure my grandma wasn’t working in the kitchen because It tasted that good! :) YUM!

  • Excellent authentic Israeli cuisine packed with bold flavor that will make you come back for more. The quality and the freshness of ingredients of the food warrants the price. Friendly staff and atmosphere in the restaurant. 100% Kosher. Pro tip: On the side of the restaurant, they have a wide variety of sauce bottles. You can get as many as you want! Mix and match to get the most out of your Yesh order.

  • First time here, would definitely try again. This is a kosher establishment. At first I felt like I wouldn't be welcome as I'm not of the same faith. However, the gentlemen were nice, friendly, and answered all of our questions pertaining to the menu. Food was good and fresh. Would go again just to try a different selection. Not an intimate space more like a local meet and eat but great service.

  • Checked out this place based on reviews seen here. We have a weakness for shawarma's, and so couldn't resist once I heard about this authentic place.. The food was really good, didn't disappoint at all. We had the shawarma and parviyot.. The sweets (bakhlava) didn't impress at all, may not have been that fresh. It is a little bit of a hike for us, but worth it. They're closed on Fri and Sat, so keep that in mind.

  • A nourishing gem for the soul and the stomach! Yesh Hummus & Grill isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an experience. From the moment you walk in, there’s a warmth that makes you feel instantly welcome. The aromas alone are enough to make your heart flutter, and then the food arrives. Every bite tastes like it was made with care, with real intention. The hummus is silky, the shawarma full of flavor, the pita fresh and comforting, and the grilled meats perfectly seasoned. But it’s more than just delicious. There’s a feeling here—of community, of kindness, of something rooted and real. Everyone there treats you like family. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, they remember your name, your favorites, and make you feel like you truly belong. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in town. You leave feeling full, yes, but also uplifted. As if someone reminded you that good food and good people are still alive and well in this world. If you’re ever in need of a moment of nourishment, body and spirit, go to Yesh. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a resounding yes.
